A yacht is a symbol of power and wealth. Do you know the difference between a cruise ship and a yacht? A yacht is smaller than cruise ship but contains luxurious features. Every yacht is designed in a unique way. A regular yacht can be more than 200 feet and a cruise ship can be more than 400 feet in length. 15. Alexander

Alexander is a 123.5 meters (405 feet) Superyacht, owned by the Latsis family of Greece. It was built by Lubecker Flender in 1965 and refurbished in 1986 to use it as a yacht charter. It has the capacity of 83 passengers and 50 crew members. This yacht features 40 bedrooms, a conference hall, a cinema and a restaurant. It also has two helipads and large space of sun bath.

14. Octopus

Octopus is a 126 meters (413 feet) long yacht, owned by the co-founder of Microsoft, Paul Allen. He also owns Tatoosh which is also ranked as one of the largest superyachts. It was built by Lurssen and its interior was designed by Jonathan Quinn of Seattle. The yacht has two submarines and one of them is always controlled by remote to study the bottom of the sea.

13. Al Mirqab

Al Mirqab was built for the former Prime Minister of Qatar, Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber al Thani. A Germany based company, Kusch Yachts built it. It has capacity for up to 80 people including guests and crew members. This 133 meter (436 feet) long yacht runs on a powerful diesel engine which provides it a maximum speed of 38 km/h.

Serene was built by an Italian shipyard, Fincantieri in 2011. It was built for a Russian businessman, Yuri Scheffler for $330 million. At the length of 134 meters (440 feet), it has all kinds of luxurious features including hot and cold Jacuzzi, 50 feet long pool and a submarine that can dive up to 300 feet. In the last summer, Bill Gates spent $5 million for the lease for only one week.

11. Savarona

The Savarona was the largest yacht at the time of its launch in 1931. It was initially built for the US Navy and they sold it to Navy of Turkey in 1938. They refurbished it in 1992 and it still serves the Republic of Turkey. It is 136 meters (446 feet) in length and is one of the oldest yachts. It features a Turkish bath tub, a movie theater and all gold trimmed staircases.

Rising Sun is a motor yacht built in 2004 by Lurssen in Germany. The yacht was initially built for Larry Ellison, CEO of Oracle Corporation. It is 138 meters (453 feet) in length and construction cost is over $200 million. In 2010, the yacht has been owned by David Geffen. It is equipped with Jacuzzi, gym, spa, 330 square meter deck space and a basketball court, which can also be used as a helicopter pad.

9. Al Salamah

Al Salamah was the property of the late Saudi Arabian prince, Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz. It was built in 1999 by German companies Lurssen and HDW. It is 139 meters (457 feet) in length and the construction cost is calculated to be around $200 million. It is a private yacht and equipped with gym, spa, hospital, a cinema and a library.

8. Yas


Yas is a private yacht of former president of the UAE, Hamdan bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahayan and launched in 2011. It was built by ADMShipyards of UAE. With 141 meters (463 feet) of length, it is eighth largest yacht in the world. It offers space for 60 guests and is managed by 56 member crew. It is equipped with a pool, spa, entertainment system and a garage for water toys.

El Horria was a royal yacht built for Isma’il Pasha, Arab Republic of Egypt in 1865. It was built by the Samuda Brothers on the Thames River in United Kingdom. After retirement of King Farouk, it was taken over by the Egyptian government for use as a naval training ship. After many alterations, its total length is 146 meters (478 feet). It is powered by 6500 HP steam turbine engine which has the maximum speed of 30 km/h.

Topaz is a luxury yacht built by Lurrsen in Germany in 2012. It is owned by the deputy Prime Minister of the UAE, Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The yacht is 147 meters (482 feet) long and estimated cost of construction is $527 million. It is powered by 8000 HP diesel engine and equipped with Jacuzzi, swimming pool, helicopter landing pad, fitness hall, cinema and a conference room.

5. Prince Abdulaziz

Prince Abdulaziz is one of the royal yachts, owned by King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia. It was built by Helsingor Vaerft in Denmark in 1984. With the length of 147 meters (482 feet), it is the fifth largest yacht in the world. After the King’s death, the ownership passed to its brother. Its maximum speed is 41 km/h and requires 60 men crews.

Al Said is a luxury yacht owned by the Sultan Qaboos of Oman. The yacht was built by the Lurssen of Germany in 2007. It is 155 meters (508 feet) in length. Currently, it is the highest displacement super yacht with 15,850 tons and the most powerful with 16,500 KW. At the time of launch, it was the second largest yacht in the world. It features classically wood walls, huge entertaining spaces and a concert hall for 50 piece orchestra.

Dubai, the yacht is owned by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Prime Minister of the UAE. It is 162 meters (531 feet) long and can hold more than 115 guests on it. The yacht was designed by Andrew Winch and built by under a joint project between Biohm and Voss. The construction completed in 2006 and it costs more than $300 million.

Eclipse is a luxury yacht constructed by Biohm and Voss of Germany in 2009. The yacht was owned by Russian businessman and owner of Chelsea Football club, Roman Abramovich. It is 163.5 meters (536 feet) in length and around $475 million were spent to build. It features two swimming pools, 24 guest rooms, two helicopter landing pads and large space for entertainment. More than 70 crew members are needed to maintain the yacht and serve the guests.

Azzam is built by the Lurssen in Germany and it took over $605 million to complete the construction and design. It was launched on 5th April 2013 and owned by the President of the UAE. It is 180 meters (580 feet) long and powered by two gas turbines and two diesel engines with a total power output of 94,000 HP. It has the ability to travel at high speed in shallow water while providing luxurious facilities.

Solar is an upcoming superyacht that runs on the concept of green energy. It is estimated that it has 12 guest rooms with all kinds of lavish features. Its launching date is unknown and scheduled to deliver in 2015. The cost of construction is expected to be around $147 million.

4. Privilege Two

Privilege Two will be built by the Italy based Privilege Yard. It is expected that this yacht is completed by the end of 2017. There are very few details revealed about the design and the specifications. It has an extra deck for the extra helipad.

The Ocean Victory is an under construction super luxury yacht. It was previously planned to complete it before 2014 but they extend the project to 2015. An Italy based company, Fincantieri builds it for a Russian businessman, Viktor Rashnikov. Its interior design is given by Alberto Pinto and exterior is given designed by Espen Oeino.

2. Dream Symphony

Dream Symphony is an upcoming superyacht that will be built by Dream Ship Victory of Turkey. After the completion, it will become one of the largest sailing yachts in the world. It is planned to launch it in 2016 and till now, very less specification is revealed about it. It will carry four masts that provide it a maximum speed of 25 km/h.

White Pearl is a future super luxury and sailing yacht. All the specifications, even the project starting date is confidential. Only the builder’s name, Nobiskrug (a German shipyard) is revealed. This Superyacht is scheduled to be launched in 2016. After the construction, it will become the largest sailing yacht in the world.

  • Have you ever dreamed about yacht like that? I just wonder what kind of person you should be, to own the three largest and most luxury yachts of the world at total worth of over 1.5 billion USD. That is really amazing and Pelorus and Eclipse are so beautiful and so luxury, that we have never seen something like that ever.
