All of us have heard about almost all common diseases such as cancer and HIV. But there are some exceptional diseases many people suffering from around the world. Such diseases are found infrequently and in rare cases even a team of professional doctors is not able to diagnose it. 10. Smallpox

Smallpox may have been around as early as 10000 BC. Its symptoms are high fever, fatigue and rash with flat red sores that can eventually cover the entire body. It is estimated that smallpox was one of the deadliest diseases that killed around 500 million in the 20th century.

9. Progeria

Progeria is a genetic condition where the aging of the patient begins in childhood. One in about 8 million children is affected by this disease. The disease is not inherited, however, there has been a case of similar condition where the parents carry the protein genetically and then pass it to their children. There is no cure for Progeria.

Kuru is also known as laughing death and was found only amongst the tribal people of New Guinea. The symptom is a sudden burst of maniacal laughter which ultimately leads to death with a hole in the brain. The disease was a result of cannibalism, the sufferers are not able to eat and stand, they lose the power of speech and die.

In Alien hand syndrome, neurologically one hand functions involuntarily and the patient is completely unaware of its actions. They are not in the control of the patient. Its symptom includes grasping for things, touching the face and tearing the clothes. This disease was so rare that only 40-50 cases were recorded in the 20th century.

6. Vampire Disease

A few people on earth are allergic to the Sunlight. Their skins and eyes get affected badly if they go out in a sunny day, even for a small duration. Some of them feel too much pain, like someone is burning them alive. It doesn’t mean that they are vampires but they suffer from a rare disease that has vampire like symptoms.

5. Paraneoplastic pemphigus (PNP)

Paraneoplastic pemphigus affects the nervous system of the patient. The term paraneoplastic means that the neurological syndrome is not caused by the tumor itself but by the immunological reactions that the tumor produces. This disease is extremely fatal, 90% patients died due to the multi organ failure.

4. Dercum’s Disease

Dercum’s Disease is a rare disorder having multiple and painful growth of fatty tissues. These growths occur on upper arm and upper legs. It mainly occurs in women and adults than men. The patient may also experience weight gain, depression and confusion. The exact cause of Dercum’s Disease is still unknown.

3. Elephantiasis

In Elephantiasis the size and weight of the leg are extremely enlarged. Parasitic worms such as the B.timori get transmitted by the mosquitoes. Approximately 120 million people are affected by the Elephantiasis throughout the world. The symptom may take few years to show themselves, because a female mosquito can inject the worm larvae in the person’s blood where they can reproduce and become visible in the form of symptom like enlarged arm, legs and genitals.

2. Human Pappiloma virus

The human Pappiloma virus is extremely rare skin disorder and only 190 cases are recorded till now in the world. The immunodeficiency allows this virus present on our skin to develop themselves on the person’s skin. Till now significant treatment has not been found.
